Biomedical and Behavioral Sciences Research Opportunities

Santa Fe to UF (SF2UF)

The SF2UF partnership program connects Santa Fe College and the University of Florida and allows for an increase in SF students who transfer to UF and obtain bachelor’s degree in biomedical and behavioral sciences. This program hopes to foster and support the education, research experience, and professional development for underrepresented students. Those who are accepted, have the opportunity to conduct research with UF professors and other undergraduate students, while they are still enrolled at Santa Fe College. Additionally, the program provides chemistry and biology tutoring, as well as a seminar course (ISC2931: Entering Research in the Biomedical and Behavioral Sciences) to promote greater understanding in the subject area.

MARC Gator Star Program

The MARC Gator STAR program is a program that supports undergraduates who are interested in obtaining a Ph.D. degree in biomedical or behavioral sciences. Undergraduates who are accepted into the GatorSTAR program receive a stipend of $1,100 per month and travel support in their final two years of undergraduate. Additionally, students who participate in the program, will attend intensive research experiences with University of Florida’s Faculty and attend other programs to better their overall academic and research experience.

By assisting in the conduction of research, the program aims to help students through their graduation with a BS degree in a STEM, biomedical, or behavioral science discipline fostering a career as a research scientist. It is important to note that the MARC GatorSTAR program is not intended for those who plan to obtain only a professional degree (such as MD, DO, DDS, DMD, or DVM), although applicants who plan to earn a PhD degree in combination with a professional degree can be considered for the program.
