Gator Jump Start Biology

Eligible for Florida Students that Have Not Yet Taken Biology

Gator Labs and JumpStart Logo

The Gator JumpStart Biology program is designed for Florida High School students that have not yet taken a biology course to get a “jump start” in a fun and hands-on environment! Students stay on the University of Florida Campus, hear from UF faculty and scientists, visit research sites, and participate in lab experiments while covering topics you’ll encounter in school.

The program covers many topics each year, from plant and animal biology to genetics and molecular biology. Past programs have visited the UF Whitney Marine Lab, toured the UF Florida Museum of Natural History collections and pinned butterfly specimens, and performed DNA barcoding on moths to discover new species!
