

ELIGIBLE FOR STUDENTS ENTERING GRADE 11 OR 12.
The REx program is an advanced introduction to research science. From basic science research to the development of new applications, therapies, and technologies, students learn how research scientists and engineers contribute new knowledge and innovative approaches to tackle societal issues. Students visit active research laboratories and facilities, attend discussions highlighting current research at UF, and participate in hands-on activities and experiments with leading UF research faculty and graduate students.
Biomedical Science Track: Explore biomedical sciences, from discovery-based research to clinical therapeutics. In this program you’ll learn advanced experimental techniques, including DNA science, protein science, CRISPR, and gel electrophoresis.

Environmental Health Track:. Students will engage in a series of activities which highlight the relationship between biological, chemical, and engineering processes needed to mitigate current environmental concerns and the effects they have on human health.

What ReX Offers

RESEARCH
- Work with your peers to develop an authentic, graduate-level research proposal with assistance from program staff and researchers. Present your research to parents, peers, and invited guests during a formal poster session.
ACADEMICS & CAREERS
- Hear from representatives of various academic programs (such as Honors, medical school, & graduate school), and receive information on career tracks relevant to research and practice in biomedicine or the environmental sciences.
SOCIAL
- Live in the Hume Honors College with other participants from around the state. Together, you’ll enjoy fun socials, sports, and other activities in the evenings. Saturday is a special out-of-town field trip and Sunday is for on-campus fun!
