We believe that health science education is for everyone; from first learning how science works, to contributing to biomedical research, and everything in-between! The UF Health Science Center is partnering with the Center for Precollegiate Education and Training (CPET) to establish an Academy for Sciences and Careers (ASC) that will promote K-16 student and teacher health science education and outreach throughout the state of Florida. ASC programs at the UF Health Science Center inspire students and promote a love of learning, equip teachers with cutting-edge knowledge for their classrooms, and engage people at all levels in exciting educational opportunities and contributions to health science research. ASC harnesses the over 60 years of outreach experience at CPET to partner with UF Health Science Center colleges, institutes, and faculty to build and implement exciting new educational programs, develop new partnerships within the Health Science Center, and to promote the wonderful work already being done! ASC educational outreach programs also provide unique career and professional develop opportunities for professional students, postdocs, faculty, and staff to serve as lab instructor, lecturers, judges, and more. By building relationships between Florida scientists, health professionals, students, teachers, and the broader community we can increase science literacy and access to health science education across the state!
