Join us at the University of Florida for Rewrite the Code: Gene Therapy, CRISPR & the Future of Medicine, an immersive professional learning experience exploring how advances in genetics are changing the way we understand and treat disease.
October 16, 2026 — Rewrite the Code: Gene Therapy, CRISPR & the Future of Medicine
Gene therapy and CRISPR are transforming modern medicine—but what do these technologies actually do, and how are they being used to address genetic disease?
Through engaging talks, hands-on activities, and real-world medical examples, participants will explore the science behind editing DNA and delivering new therapies. No advanced genetics background is required.
During the day, teachers will:
- Understand what gene therapy is and how it differs from gene editing
- Explore how CRISPR can target specific DNA sequences
- Examine how these technologies are being investigated and used to treat genetic disease
- Consider challenges involving safety, delivery, ethics, and access
- Discover ways to connect cutting-edge biomedical science with classroom learning
Who: Florida teachers, including secondary, health, and vocational educators; school administrative faculty are also welcome
