GatorWISE is back this fall with three Saturday science programs for high school students in grades 9–12!
Each GatorWISE Weekend Institute gives students the opportunity to explore science and STEM careers through hands-on activities, laboratory experiences, and interaction with University of Florida faculty and professionals.
September 19, 2026 — BITTEN! The Biotechnology of Tick-Borne Disease
Investigate the science behind tick-borne disease and discover how biotechnology helps scientists identify pathogens, study disease transmission, and protect human and animal health.
October 24, 2026 — Launch Laboratory: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Explore the science and engineering behind flight. Students will investigate principles of mechanical and aerospace engineering through hands-on design, experimentation, and launch activities.
November 14, 2026 — Mini Vet School: Veterinary Science Exploration
Step into the world of veterinary medicine and explore the science behind animal health and care through hands-on activities and interactions with veterinary professionals.
Who: High school students in grades 9–12
When: 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Where: University of Florida Main Campus, Gainesville
Cost: $60 per program, including lunch
